Getting a pay rise

womanYou've worked hard, met targets, exceeded expectations, and now it's pay-back time. Of course pay isn't the only or even the main reason you do your job. But being rewarded fairly for your efforts is crucial if your employer is to retain your commitment and your goodwill.

All managers like to keep their costs down, and even if you are their "biggest asset", firms are rarely in a hurry to pay people more. (Indeed, often they will pay as little as they think they can get away with). But winning a pay rise need not be regarded as a "Mission Impossible". You will just have to make a case and present some hard, irrefutable evidence.
